David Gomez

MD, PhD


Biography

David Gomez is an acute care and trauma surgeon at St. Michaels Hospital. Dr Gomez was awarded a PhD by the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto which focused on access to trauma centre care in Ontario. Following his graduate studies, Dr Gomez completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Toronto. In addition, Dr Gomez underwent additional training in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and surgery at the Nepean Hospital followed by a fellowship in trauma surgery at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia. Dr Gomez is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and a scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. Dr Gomez’ research program focuses on the evaluation of enablers and barriers of access to timely and quality care for patients with surgical emergencies.
