Biography
Currently a PhD, mixed methods researcher at St. Michael’s Hospital, Dr. Katherine Allan specializes in arrhythmia and resuscitation research.
She is Chair and co-founder of CARE, a grassroots organization in Ontario that aims to increase awareness and survival from sudden cardiac arrest through various community based initiatives, including teaching all kids how to save a life. She is the project manager and co-investigator for C-SCAN, a national network that is measuring the true scope of sudden cardiac arrest across Canada. Dr. Allan is also Chair of Training and Education for CANet, a national Pan-Canadian multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral research and development network.
In 2021, she was seconded to the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario to help streamline their processes for referring families of sudden cardiac death patients for cascade screening.
