Biography

Dr. Fabio Botelho is a pediatric surgeon from Minas Gerais, Brazil. He recently completed the Jean-Martin Laberge Global Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and a PhD from the McGill University. Currently, he is a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery fellow at the University of Toronto. His projects aim to improve trauma quality of care by using new technologies, like virtual reality, AI and teaching non-technical skills.

He is also a humanitarian surgeon (and has worked with Médecins Sans Frontières and Mercy Ships). As pediatric trauma is a leading cause of child mortality and morbidity in several countries, Dr. Botelho believes that being a pediatric trauma surgeon will be his way to contribute to a better world.
